The Time Between
Released 1993
This is Kate’s first all original recording. In the milliseconds before impact in a high speed head-on collision, Kate realized that if she survived, she would write her own work rather than focusing on traditional music. This album, while simpler in production than subsequent recordings, won international recognition for Kate and placed her on NPR’s top releases of the year. It also brought her a recording contract through which she aligned with New Age allstar guitarist and Aikido Master, Teja Bell, whose “Dolphin Smiles” was one of the defining recordings of it’s day. Their alliance was cemented in Kate’s 1995 release, Deep Hearts Core. The Time Between is romantic and tender, with primarily Celtic and Slavic influences.
